Live improvisation on the optical organ by Lukas Simonis & Oscar Jan Hoogland

In 1971 toy manufacturer Mattel released the Optigan (short for "optical organ), an organ-like synthesizer whose sound library was stored on interchangeable 12 inch clear acetate "program discs". Each program disc was encoded with 57 concentric optical 16mm tracks that spun on a turntable inside the machine.

Lukas Simonis is a musician and composer based in Rotterdam, working in any field that has to do with sound -film, radioplays, rockmusic, improvisation & the works.
Oscar Jan Hoogland is an improviser, pianist, composer who is working actively in the field of both music and dance improvisation in Amsterdam.
