Film Program 1
Curated by Erwin van't Hart

1)
Oscillation in Sight #1 – Nan Wang, NL, 2023, 6’, 16mm + live sound

Oscillation in Sight is a series of film experiments that opposed the idea of representation and reconstitution of the appearance of motion in the real world. By making her own 16mm camera, the filmmaker can capture images without restrictions such as frame size, gate, speed, and shutters.
In Oscillation in Sight #1, we will be gazing at a small transparent piece of plastic on a spinning motor; that appears to be phasing in and out of existence, oscillating between the familiar and distorted visions.

2)
Fugue, A Light’s Travelogue – Els van Riel, BE, 2017, 27’, 16mm, sound

Through this work the filmmaker has been exploring the physical consistency of Light, sunlight as well as artificial light. A complete answer or formula has not been found. Finding a way to express the wish to understand is what this film is about.

3)
Tired, Stale Eyes… – Lucas Haynes, AU, 2023, 8’, 16mm, sound

On a jog home, the sun is setting and the long day is almost over. Fresh work made at Nanolab, Australia.

4)
II – Alexandre Larose, CA, 2022, 15’, S8–>35mm, silent

Made during a residency at an old ice storage building in an isolated village in northwest Iceland, this second part of a triptych that Alexandre Larose has been developing for several years is a series of cinematic tableaux inspired by various habitual and imagined gestures/actions performed by his parents.
