RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Past, future and ongoing projects
This programme is designed to test home-made emulsion through coating, processing, and toning. The test material is a strip of hand-coated 16mm used as print stock.

2-day programme:

Day One

This homebrew silver based emulsion is a mix of silver nitrate, potassium bromide and food gelatin powder. Partly airbrushed on clear leader, partly added with a soft brush.

Day Two

After B&W developing and fix the strip is colour toned. First strip is a direct iron toning example, second a copper toner. The last two are first bleach-etched and then coloured in a bath of acetic acid and some methylene blue and rhodamine.

Made in the WORM Filmwerkplaats lab during the handmade emulsion workshop, 20-21 December 2014.

Guided by Esther Urlus.
